You can control ViewCompanion Pro and Standard from your own application using two different methods: DDE or command line parameters.

DDE
The DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) interface have commands for opening, printing and converting files. See here for a complete list of available DDE commands.

You can also download a small VB 6.0 project that shows how most of the commands are used.

Command Line
ViewCompanion can also be controlled using many different command line parameters.
Both printing and conversion can be done using the command line.
A complete list of the available command lines parameters can be found here.
